A Human Potential Network Initiative

Healthcare Talent Innovation Network

Opportunity

Healthcare faces a deepening talent crisis — rising demand, chronic vacancies, high turnover, shrinking federal funding, and skills reshaped by AI. Employers run dozens of talent programs, often in silos rather than as connected pathways, while underfunded L&D teams and scattered data make it hard to prove what actually works.

The Healthcare Talent Innovation Network will build the shared infrastructure the field lacks: a way for employers to test practical strategies, compare results, and move from fragmented programs toward an intentional system for growing talent from within.

what the network offers

  • A national learning cohort of healthcare employers, alongside select education, workforce, policy, and philanthropic partners.

  • Two in-person convenings (Executive Launch/Immersion and a National Summit/Implementation Forum) plus year-round peer learning.

  • Shared tools, including a benchmarking and maturity model, ROI calculator, workforce forecasting guide, and employer-education partnership playbook.

  • Implementation support and technical assistance.

  • A common measurement framework covering vacancy impact, time-to-fill, retention, internal mobility, and completion — so results are comparable across employers.

Projected Impact by year 3

  • 100+ healthcare systems reached; 75 participating directly in cohorts

  • 50+ new or expanded work-based learning and advancement pathways

  • 5,000+ learners and workers in new or expanded pathways

  • 10+ employer-tested tools and resources disseminated

  • 3–5 policy barriers advanced through state or federal action

Partnership

The Network is jointly led by UpSkill America at the Aspen Institute and UW Health WorkForward in strategic alignment with the Human Potential Network.
